	Rather than investigating topographic verisimilitude or a sense of a specific place, Leaver’s work describes an essence of the natural world through the variation of light, color and surface tension. In some paintings there is a pronounced dissolution of the boundary normally defined by the horizon line. His paintings explore the intersection between our experience of a physical sense of place, and the ineffable quality that landscape holds in our memories. His imagery appears to be at once dissolving and emerging, almost primordial in its depiction of the fecundity of nature.
